Existing and potential old growth forest, relative to the currently protected areas. Data were collected from an old growth field survey (Carlson 1995) which identifies areas of both existing and potential old growth, and from the USDA Forest Service's Continuous Inventory of Stand Condition (CISC) which contains attributes of forest stand conditions throughout the watershed (including age). This mapincorporates the CISC data that identified stands as greater than 100 years old, which were considered as potential old growth. Approximately 6,200 acres of the watershed (about 4%) was identified by Carlson as existing and potential old growth. CISC stands greater than 100 years old cover approximately 28,000 acres (about 16%) of the watershed.
